How to Use a Construction Rotary Laser Level

A construction grade rotary laser level is something that nearly every individual concerned with home improvements should keep in their arsenal of tools. With a simple touch of the button the level automatically marks a level line on the wall in a bright red light. This line is flat, and you can use it for anything you need. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Get your hands on a construction rotary laser level. You should be able to find one of these from a hardware store or a construction supply store. Make sure the one you use has an auto-leveling feature.

    • 2

Place your laser on a completely level surface, preferably a flat one if you have access to one. You can use anything that’s flat including a tripod, an overturned bucket or even a metal chair if you can find one.

    • 3

Power up the laser level by pushing the on button. The level should automatically be set to the auto-leveling feature when you turn it on. This allows the level to immediately adjust itself to its surroundings.

    • 4

Measure the object or area that you want to measure with the level. The level can be used to mark one large level space on your site, or you can mark smaller increments depending on your needs. Basically you’ll want to mark your area or leave the laser level running while you do your adjustments. It will show a red line across the wall or floor that is perfectly straight and level.

    • 5

Turn off your laser level when you’re finished. As long as you marked your level line, you should be good to go. If you need to recheck anything, simply leave the level in place and turn it back on when needed.
