This service is free of charge and is only good for one report. There are a number of companies on the Internet that will allow you to get your first report for free, then charge you a fee for each month you remain on their records. Obtain your credit report yourself. You are entitled to a free annual credit report from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and Trans Union.

Read the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you signed up for the credit-monitoring service. Assure that you understand what you are agreeing to. Read the fine print, and make sure that there are no hidden charges.

Send an email within 30 days from the date that you gave them your credit-card number and back out of the deal.

Send written notification and demand a written verification that your order has been cancelled. Save all correspondence.

Check with your credit card the following month. If there is a charge on the credit card, contact your credit-card company and lodge a dispute so that you will be refunded your money.
