Snakes are slithery, sneaky and a heck of a lot of fun to draw. They are also one of the easiest illustrations to create, due to their lack of legs, arms and other small details that can bog you down. You can, however, add lots of details on the snake’s body, making the delightful creature even that much more fun. You can draw a snake with a few simple steps.

1
Start by fashioning the snake’s eye. He can have a creepy, evil eye, complete with Cleopatra-like eye make-up, or he can have a simple round eye to show how friendly snakes can be.
2
Draw the snake’s face by making slightly curved lines come forward from his eyeball. Don’t forget to add some pointy lines in his top jaw to serve as fangs and, if you wish, a bottom tooth or two. Make his mouth very pronounced so he can easily bite someone.
3
Make a long, swirly line from the back of the snake’s eyeball to serve as the top of his body. It can be as short or long as you like and as curved or straight as you like.
4
Make a second swirly line below the first to serve as the bottom of the snake’s body. Here’s where you get to choose if he’s a thin, slithery specimen or a big fat snake.
5
Draw another line along the bottom of the snake where his belly would be. Begin to fill in his skin with whatever design you fill fit, or none at all. Instead of scales, which take a long time and are somewhat boring to draw, snakes can be adorned with flowers, small suns or stars.
6
Fill in the rest of the snake details, which include continuing your design on his body, adding small lines in his belly and two dots to serve as a nice pair of nostrils.
Tips & Warnings
You can also add a forked tongue, rattle and other snake features.
Gather more designs for your snake by checking out some different fabrics or simply looking in your closet to see what sundress or pant designs would look nice on a snake.
Don’t make your snake too fat or he may simply look like a beached sausage.
