Things You'll Need:
- Graphic software where you can create a picture collage, like PowerPoint
- Images that you have on your computer, can download, or can scan in
-
Step 1
Once you have determined what you want from life – what a challenge that is! – start collecting images that reflect your "wants." The images can be something you find on the Internet or pictures from a magazine that you can scan into your computer. Remember, your objective for this step is to collect images that reflect things you want, and the images need to be downloaded or imported to your computer. You can also type what you want, particularly if it is something intangible.
-
Step 2
Open the graphics software, like PowerPoint.
-
Step 3
Paste all your images and text boxes onto one landscape (horizontal) PowerPoint slide, sizing and positioning them in a fashion that pleases you. You can also choose a background color or image. If in doubt as to which color to use, go with medium to dark blue. Because this one page is going to end up as the wallpaper (background) of your computer desktop (screen), you need to consider where your desktop icons will lay. For your first try – yes, you may have to go back and redo this step to better distribute your images – keep the images to the center 3/5 of the horizontal page, leaving the left and right 1/5’s for positioning your desktop icons.
-
Step 4
Vision BoardSave your work as a graphic image in bmp, gif, jpg, dib, or png format. Here’s what my current Vision Board looks like. I will be adding more later. Notice that I’ve left room on the left and right for my desktop icons. (You can click the image to enlarge it.)
-
Step 5
PropertiesNow you are ready to move on to posting the image as your desktop. To do that, RIGHT click on your desktop and then click on Properties.
-
Step 6
Desktop TabClick on the Desktop tab (A). Then click on the Browse button (B). Locate the image you just saved and double-click it, or click once and then click the Open button.
Under Position (C), you can choose how to apply the image. Using “Stretch”, the image will completely fill the screen.
Click OK. -
Step 7
DesktopNow, each time you startup your computer, your Vision Board will be there to remind you what you want most in life. My Vision Board as my computer’s desktop wallpaper appears at left. (Some icons are out of view on the right).
You may find that you need to reposition your icons or make your images smaller; if so, start with Step 3 and proceed.
Joyous and successful dreams to you!!

on 8/20/2008 I've used the free image editing software called GIMP to create computer desktop vision boards. It's great to turn on your computer and see the things you want in your life there on the screen.
