Things You'll Need:
- A good attitude
- A sense of humor
-
Step 1
Get a hobby. You have to be interested in something BESIDES getting a guy for guys to be interested in you. Women who chase after men are so unappealing. In my example, Anne loves reading and writing, with a flair for dramatic poetry. She also enjoys studying, and is very proud of her good grades. While all the other girls are fawning over Gilbert, the school hottie, Anne focuses on her poetry. Who does that make stand out?
-
Step 2
Get really good at your hobby. Anne gives poetry readings, she wins scholarships, and writes stories that get published. She's an impressive person. This has a two-fold advantage: one, you can be proud and confident. Confident women are sexy women; two, you give the guys something to moon over. Instead of spending your time telling him how good he is at football, like the other girls are doing, let him see just how good you are singing. Hey, it worked for Ariel.
-
Step 3
You'll notice I haven't said anything about choosing a guy. DON'T. You are probably already smitten if you searched out this article, but you don't have to let him know that. You must be perfectly happy with yourself the way you are before you start man hunting. Otherwise, you are going to be looking for someone to complete you. No one can do that, until you know who you are, and are comfortable with that.
-
Step 4
By this point, you have gotten good at something. People have begun to notice your talent in [insert area of expertise.] Chances are, a dreamy guy has noticed as well. IGNORE HIM. This is the best lesson I learned from Anne Shirley. Gilbert is good looking, smart, and popular. Girls fall at his feet. He practically has a fan club. However, when smart and feisty Anne enters the picture, she ignores him completely. She can't stand his smugness. This drives Gilbert crazy, and he enters a years-long campaign to win her heart.
-
Step 5
The lesson is, we always want what we can't have. If you make yourself available, men will think you are not challenging enough. It is silly, and hurtful sometimes, but it is the way we all think. This lesson works just as well for guys wanting to catch the notices of the ladies. Indeed, it is when Gilbert takes a page out of Anne's book, making himself unavailable to her, that she finally realizes she's been in love with him all along.
-
Step 6
If you liked my article, the next step is to read "Anne of Green Gables" for yourself. It is a children's story, yes. But, no matter how old you are, we could all do with the lessons in self-confidence that this charming tale of life a century past has to offer.
