When boiling an egg, timing is everything.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pot
  • Water
  • Eggs
  • Vinegar
  • Timer or Clock
  1. Step 1

Place the eggs in the pot and cover in cool (not hot) water for boiling. Cover the eggs completely. You can add a dash of vinegar to keep cracked eggs from seeping out.

  2. Step 2

Place the pot on the burner and turn the burner on medium heat.

  3. Step 3

After coming to a rolling boil. Boil for exactly 12 minutes. The eggs will be perfectly cooked throughout.

Note that previously in this article I wrote boil for 10 minutes, but I realized something. OK, at 10 minutes the egg is completely and perfectly cooked. BUT, the shells stick to the eggs and you have a hell of a time peeling them. Now, I add 2 minutes to the cooking time and its much easier to peel them. THEY DON'T STICK!!

  4. Step 4

When cool enough to handle, peel the eggs and eat them as you like.

  5. Step 5

Tips & Warnings
  • Boil exactly 12 minutes, not 10 minutes.
