Things You'll Need:
- A bad hair day!
-
Step 1
Many women curl, straighten, and use chemicals to get their hair the way they want it, sleek and shiny or curly and frizz free. Yet somehow we all seem to encounter those days where the bad hair day falls straight from the sky, and the only way to get rid of it is to snip it off!
This is quite true if you use alot of chemicals in your hair, or use a straightener or curling iron.
So, in other words, if you are having a bad hair day everyday it's probably time for a hair cut or a new do. You don't need to cut off 5 inches, simply cutting off the ends of the hair will make your healthier and manageable. -
Step 2
Other ways to "heal" your hair would be to apply the proper shampoo and conditioner, if you have very dry brittle hair (which most end up getting in the summer) you want to seek out a set that moisturizers your hair from the inside out, and also think of applying a weekly cream that you leave on between 10-30 minutes.
-
Step 3
While you expose your hair to sunlight, it damages your hair, and slowly over time "highlights" your hair, so you may want to think about wearing a hat on those long summer days at the beach. Exposure to the ailments in the air also damage your hair, such as haze, pollution, or other chemicals.
Dry water also affects how manageable your hair is, there are replacements you can buy to create soft water, also remember to use cold water on your hair while you rinse, that adds shine.
As a note, there are shampoo's and conditioner's or leave in creams that have UV protection, it would be wise to use a set with UV protection. -
Step 4
Now I want to talk about home remedies you can put in your hair, such as:
recipe 1:
1/2 ripe avocado
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp honey
Mix ingredients together until creamy then apply to shampooed towel-dried hair and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Shampoo and condition lightly, then style hair as usual.
(honey and avocado moisturize and egg yolk smooths and conditions the hair shaft.
Recipe 2:
6 oz plain yogurt
3 tbsp olive oil
mix ingredients well until creamy, then apply to shampooed towel-dried hair, wrap head in a hot moist towel and seal in heat with second dry towel, leave on for 20 minutes. (coarse hair rinse thoroughly) Fine hair, use a gentle shampoo.
Another great way to get shiny hair would be to follow one of the recipes above, then rinse with regular beer or Apple Cider Vinegar, they may not smell great but they sure do seal the hair and make it shiny, you will notice your hair is more manageable. -
Step 5
For extremely dry hair try using plain mayonnaise on dry hair, leaving it in for about 15-30 minutes in a wrap or towel, then follow with your favorite shampoo and conditioner. (note that some people may experience very oily hair while using mayo; if you already have oily hair seek out a set that is "light" conditioning, and try to minimize the amount of product used in your hair, remember to brush your hair on a daily basis to help promote the oil all over.
-
Step 6
Finally, during the summer try to stay clear of highlighting your hair or coloring it several shades lighter than your original hair color, the chemicals will dramatically alter your hair's appearance and it can become dry, brittle and fall out.
Side note: Wash your hair every few days to allow oil build-up, if washed everyday it will become severely dry.
People with oily hair should wash about every other day while using just shampoo every other time you wash your hair.
