Feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice that is thought to allow the flow of chi to enter a person’s life through the placements of objects in their life according to certain elements, principles and colors. It involves both elements in heaven and earth to attempt to bring success, love, happiness, peace and the attainment of knowledge to an individual. Optimally an office should never be in a feng shui bedroom, but if you must, here are some tips. Here are some general tips for making your bedroom/office into a feng shui paradise. Use interior design and decor to change your life.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The room should be clean and free of clutter. Get rid of all unnecessary junk. Keep only the most essential elements.

  2. Step 2

The office desk should be as far away from the bed as possible and clear of and facing the door.

  3. Step 3

The office chair should be set back up against a solid wall to promote strength.

  4. Step 4

The desk should be in the southeast corner for prosperity and success.

  5. Step 5

There should be elements of purple on the desk for success, and optimally the desk will be made of natural wood.

  6. Step 6

A wooden divider should be placed between the office and the bedroom

  7. Step 7

Televisions, and computers or other non-essential equipment can disrupt energy flow. In particular, keep them away from the bed. If they must be in the room, they should be in a cabinet made of wood, especially while sleeping.

  8. Step 8

The door should be able to be seen from the bed. This allows chi energy to freely flow in the room and places the bed in a command position. The bed should never directly face the door though.

  9. Step 9

Your feet should not face towards the door.

  10. Step 10

The place where your head lies should have a solid wall with a strong stable headboard (mountain) behind it. This promotes a secure feeling.

  11. Step 11

Soft lighting promotes peace and serenity. Avoid light directly above the bed.

  12. Step 12

Place something beautiful that gives you inspiration in the first place you see when you enter the room.

  13. Step 13

Your head should not be near the window, so as not to allow chi to escape..

  14. Step 14

The bed should be as far away as possible from the door.

  15. Step 15

The bed should be open on both sides

  16. Step 16

Underneath the bed should be clear.

  17. Step 17

Nightstands on both sides of the bed signify a solid romantic relationship exists or will exist. It invites love.

  18. Step 18

Make sure nightstands have rounded edges to encourage the flow of chi.

  19. Step 19

The bed should be made up of mostly natural fibers and materials. Wood is grounding and creates a feeling of centeredness.

  20. Step 20

It is best to have no mirrors in a bedroom, but if you must, mirrors should be hung in a position where you cannot see yourself from the bed. Mirrors reflect energy away from the area of the room. They key is to keep the chi in the room.

  21. Step 21

Make sure all wall hangings or art are calming and relaxing to encourage good dreams.

  22. Step 22

If there is a connecting bathroom keep the door closed while you sleep

  23. Step 23

Use feng shui colors and elements. Color can create or detract from harmony in your life. Yellow is for optimism; Pink promotes healing and contentment; Black is mysterious, but can be draining in excess; White represents pure spirit, harmonious feelings and truth; Red can indicate love, and joy; Orange inspires creativity; Green is natural and energizing, but restful as well; purple is soothing and calming; Blue is calm and harmonic.

  24. Step 24

Placement is important. On the west wall should be white. This is the area of creativity, and the element is metal. If you add some metal sculpture here, you will enhance creativity.

  25. Step 25

On the southwest corner of the back wall is the love corner. Use pink in this area, where the element is earth. Add a plant here.

  26. Step 26

The east wall stands for family. The color here is green and the element is wood. This is where you might have a walnut nightstand, or other wooden elements.

  27. Step 27

The southeast corner is prosperity and the color is purple, and the element again, is wood.

  28. Step 28

The northwest corner is knowledge and has an earth element with the color blue.

  29. Step 29

The front wall or north is life and the color is black with the element water. You might have a fountain here, with some black rock or crystal.
