Arms. Most people have them. And arms are wonderful, by golly. Without arms, people couldn't carry things, lift things, or hug. Instead of drawing armless people, the people in pictures must have the arms that are needed to hug other characters when the artist isn't looking.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Drawing pencil
  • Drawing paper
  • Small tortillion
  • Pencil eraser

Drawing Arms

Step1
Draw a body form with no arms.
Step2
Draw half circles at the top of the form. These will serve as rotators.
Step3
Draw two columns that stem from your circles. These will be arms.
Step4
Draw two more half circles at the bottom of the columns you have previously drawn. These are the elbows
Step5
After you draw the half circles for the elbows, add two more columns that taper at the bottom. The tapers are wrists. Now you're ready for shading.
Step6
Shade your dark areas and blend with your tortillion into your midtones.
Step7
Add lighter midtones and lightsource. Show elbow bends.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the upper and lower arm columns are even, or as close to even as possible
