Instructions

  1. Be truthful but know how to market your clothes!

    • 1

Take four to five photographs of the piece of clothing you want to sell. You are more likely to sell the item if it is unworn and has its original tags attached to it. Make sure your photographs show these tags and also show the item from different angles. It is also good if you can get someone to model them to show prospective buyers what they look like when worn.

    • 2

Open a seller's account on Ebay and a free Pay Pal account, if you haven't already. Most buyers will never bid on a listing if the seller does not accept Pay Pal payments. You will need to provide your bank information. It can take a few days to process the information, or even until your next bank statement is issued, as it will contain a code you will need to use to verify to Ebay and Pay Pal that you are an authentic seller.

    • 3

List your item by clicking on "Sell" on the Ebay homepage. You will need to categorize it according to the gender of fashion and the type of clothing it is, for example, outerwear, swimwear, dresses.

    • 4

Give your item an eye-catching headline: Using capital letters tends to work, as does emphasizing the most important aspects of your item, notably the word "NEW" or, in "Ebay"-speak, "NWT," which means "New With Tags." (If it does not contain tags, but it still unworn, write "NEW" or "NEVER WORN") List the size of the item in your headline as well, if you can, and do not make any spelling mistakes. The headline is the most important part of your listing and you want it to show up when people search for items similar to yours.

    • 5

Further categorize your item if the option is given in drop-boxes. For instance, if you are putting a bra for sale, you will have to provide the color, the cup size and other characteristics, for example, underwire, strapless, padded.

    • 6

Describe your item as thoroughly as you can and write it as though you are selling it in a commercial. Describe any other information potential buyers may ask. Since buyers can ask sellers questions through Ebay, the more information about the product you have, means that they do not have to ask questions. People want to know measurements of clothing so that they can get a good idea of whether or not it will fit them and look flattering.

    • 7

Specify what kind of shipping services you provide and how much to charge for them. Ebay has a list of possibilities to help you choose. Some sellers also opt to provide international shipping, while others prefer to only sell within their own country.

    • 8

Specify if you are willing to provide refunds and what kind--full price or just the cost of the item, without the cost of the shipping. Allowing refunds makes you seem more credible.

    • 9

Specify the amount of time you want your listing to appear. It can be several days or more than a week. Specify also if you would allow a "Buy it Now" option, which allows a person to buy the item at a price you set in advance without waiting for your auction to run its course.

    • 10

Proof-read your listing to insure there are no mistakes, grammatical or factual, as potential buyers who are dissatisfied with their purchases may claim the item was not as you had described and demand a refund. Make sure potential buyers are aware of what they would be purchasing.

    • 11

Review the appropriate fees Ebay displays for your listing and if you are content with paying them, submit your listing.
