Not many forms of art can be as expressive as air brushing. We can find the art on the side of vans, cars and trucks. Indeed air brushing is found on t-shirt works, signs and even the skin. Air brushing has even found its way on our food -- specifically cakes. Learning to air brush and how to do it well is nothing that is remotely easy. One step to properly using your air brush is knowing exactly how to fill it. This article will show you how to properly fill your air brush.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Air Brush
  • Eye Dropper
  • Air Brush Paints
  • Project
  • Paper Towel

    Properly Filling Your Airbrush

  1. Step 1

Take a good look at the project you want to do and determine the amount of paint you will require.

  2. Step 2

Using your paper towel wipe out the interior of the paint well on your air brush to remove any dirt particles that may have accumulated.

  3. Step 3

Open your paint bottles as needed and insert your eye dropper and squeeze the top to push out the air and release to fill the tube.

  4. Step 4

Hold the air brush steady in your "trigger" hand and carefully insert the eye dropper in to the paint well of the air brush and release the paint slowly in to the well.

  5. Step 5

Continue filling the well until you have reached the desired amount of paint. Never fill the well more than two thirds of the way to the top.

Tips & Warnings
  • Less paint is better than too much because you can always add paint.
  • Mix paints in a small plastic bowl, not in the paint containers.
  • Always use light pressure when using the air brush because there is no turning back if too much paint is applied to most surfaces.
  • Always clean your air brush well prior to refilling with paint or else you can inadvertently mix paint ruining your color choices.
