  1. How To Prevent First Degree Burns

    • 1

      Remove any jewelry or clothing on the burned area. Removing these objects will allow you to treat the burned area more efficiently.

      Wet a hand towel or cloth with cold water. Put the cloth on the burned area until the pain goes away. If pain persists, run the burned area under cool water.

      Cover the burned area with a clean, sterile gauze pad. Doing this will prevent infection.

  • Prevent liquid chemical burns by running the burned area under cold water for twenty minutes

  • Stop dry chemical burns by brushing off the dry chemicals. Water can activate them so do not use.

  • See a physician should your burn become infected

  • Do not put a band aid over the burned area unless directed to do so by a doctor
