Mad Libs is a reading and writing game that can provide hours of fun. Did you know you can use Mad Libs as a fun way to teach English? Follow along and fill in the blanks to teach English in ways you never dreamed.

Instructions

    • 1

      Tell the child an example of each part of speech they may come across in the Mad Libs page. Have them repeat an example back to you to make sure it is not too difficult for them. If it seems difficult, consider Mad Libs Junior.

      Go the definitions with the child according to mad lib directions and make sure the child understands the object. You may need to write out each part of speech.

      Ask the child the words on the Mad Libs page and pencil in his answers. f the child struggles with a part of speech, stop and remind him what it means short phrases, for example, "verb" is "action word." "Noun," is a person, place or thing.

      Go online and check out the resources available on the Mad Libs website. This link is located within the article.

      Have you or the individual read back the story for lots of fun and laughs. They will see how the parts of speech makes up the story.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can play single player by using the reverse side and then reading the story back or have another person read it with you.

    Years ago, my mother would get us Mad Lib pads from the Dollar Store. Hours of entertainment. I didn't know they are on the internet, of course, it shouldn't surprise me...everythings is on the web. Awesome!
