Here's a great breakfast routine that will jump-start your metabolism in the morning and keep your body at maximum calorie-burning mode all day.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Juicer
  • Mixed green veggies, preferably organic
  • 1 organic lemon
  • Fresh ginger
  • Kale
  • Apples
  • Other mixed fresh fruit

    Chop and Juice

  1. Step 1

Juice one head of romaine lettuce, five to six stalks of kale, one to two sweet apples, one whole lemon, unpeeled, and one or two inches of fresh ginger. You may substitute any green, leafy vegetable for the lettuce and kale such as spinach, chard, or collard greens.

  2. Step 2

Consume this green drink first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. It is loaded with enzymes that will pump your immune system with antioxidants. And the lemon really eliminates any "green" or "vegetable" taste.

  3. Step 3

Wait 30 minutes and eat a bowlful (one to three cups) of fresh (preferably organic) fruits. Chop up anything you like: apple, strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, blueberries, kiwi, melon; any fruit is good. Eating raw fruit for breakfast gives you lots of energy to sustain you all morning long and will keep your metabolism moving all day.

  4. Step 4

Try to eat at least two "raw" meals per day. Make a fruit or vegetable salad for lunch, dinner or a snack. Raw foods really help keep the metabolism burning fat at an optimum rate.

Tips & Warnings
  • Anytime you eat raw fruits or vegetables (especially on an empty stomach), the raw food has its own enzymes and will essentially break itself down, saving your body's energy for other important jobs. On the contrary, cooked food has little to no enzymes of its own and requires your body's own enzymes to do the work - making you feel tired and sluggish.
  • If you do this regimen three days a week, you will notice two things: Your feelings of hunger throughout the day will level off and you will begin to burn more fat because your metabolism has stabilized and is working much more effectively than before.
