Leather furniture can be scary to clean because you don't want anything to hurt the leather. It's not a very forgiving material - once it's ruined, that's it. You can make a very good - safe - leather cleaner that's very gentle and easy to use in the house or car.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup rubbing alcohol (isopropyl)
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 3 cups water
  • Large bowl
  • Funnel
  • 2 medium jars

Simple. Cheap. Gentle. Effective. What else is there?

  1. Step 1

Pour the the vinegar and alcohol into a large bowl with 3 cups of water in it. Stir it up.

  2. Step 2

Use a funnel and pour half of the cleanser in each jar. Date and label the jars and seal tightly. Store this and all cleaning supplies away from children.

  3. Step 3

Vacuum your leather pieces if they might have crumbs or dust on them. Use the cleaner by applying it with a very soft cloth.

  4. Step 4

Gently wipe down the entire surface. You don't need to rinse it. Go back with a dry piece of soft cloth and buff it lightly. Your leather will shine like brand new.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your leather clean by using this once or twice a month, depending on how much use your furniture gets.
  • This works beautifully on leather car seats.
  • Don't use vinyl cleaner on anything made of leather. It may cause it to dry and split or crack.
