Buy a Roomba Robotic Vacuum! It's worth ten times what you are paying your cleaning lady! Tired of spending your days off working at home? I work full time and the last thing I want to do with my free time is to be pushing and pulling a dust spitting, noisy vacuum cleaner over my carpets.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Roomba Robotic Vacuum Cleaner
  1. Step 1

Since I purchased my Roomba Robotic Vacuum Cleaner five years ago, my household has gone from a family of five with a cat in a four bedroom house to just my husband and me in a two bedroom apartment. At no time in those past five years could I ever imagine being without my "Roomie".

  2. Step 2

Yes, this invaluable robot has not only earned its own name but he also claims his very own corner in my kitchen where he happily resides in his base until called upon for duty. (Yes, my Roomba is a he'!)

  3. Step 3

Roomba doesn't take up much room. It's round and about a foot in diameter and fits unobtrusively in the corner on its base. It comes equipped with a remote control which includes the ability to schedule cleaning times. When it's time to clean, Roomba proceeds to back out of the base while making a beeping noise similar to a truck backing up. It's a cute feature, yes, but also a little reminder to the human that Roomba is ready to go to work.

  4. Step 4

Roomba runs about my home several times a week seeking out all the dust and dirt in the area I designate for it and when it's done it happily returns home to its base to recharge.

  5. Step 5

Roomba is battery operated and can be set on a schedule to clean and return to base day after day. It is thorough and actually cleans more places than the average person would vacuum. Roomba goes under furniture and around furniture. It detects stairs and goes just up to the edge and then retreats. It nuzzles right up to the wall and gives the edges a cleaning you just don't get with a standard vacuum. It will give extra time to areas where it detects extra debris and is very effective in the battle against animal fur!

  6. Step 6

The one feature that some consumers find annoying is the size of the bin that collects the dirt. Actually, it's not that small. I can clean my entire apartment twice without emptying the bin. And really, it takes less than a minute to pull out the bin, dump the dust, and slip it back in!

  7. Step 7

Roomba has cut my housecleaning time in half. While Roomba works his miracle over carpets and tile floors, I can dust furniture, clean bathrooms, and even go food shopping. I don't have to baby sit the robot as goes about its business.

  8. Step 8

I truly believe the robot evolution has just begun. As soon as the bathroom cleaning robot is available, you know I'll have my credit card handy! Long live my Roomba!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have allergies, you're going to love the Roomba! Frequent use will cut back on the dust that can aggravate allergy symptoms and this robot isn't spitting dirt back into the air like a standard vacuum cleaner does.

on 1/27/2009 Great article because I too have contemplated getting one. The hefty price tag has stopped me but the new one looks incredible and I might just ask for it for my b-day! 5*

on 1/8/2009 I have contemplated buying one for some time now but was skeptical of how good it would clean. I do believe that you have convinced me to give it a try.
