Normally cleaning the cat litter box is not an easy or quick chore. First you have to scoop, and scoop and scoop, or empty the whole thing into a trash bag and use a ton of litter. But I have found a quick, easy and affordable way to get the job done and not dread it!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Regular pan litter box (about $5.00)
  • Scoopable clumping cat litter
  • Alfapet Sifting Cat Pan Liners
Step1
Alfapet brand Sifting Cat Pan liners are the greatest invention for cats! Each box comes with 10 sifting liners and 1 bottom liner. The sifting liners have holes in the middle and the bottom liner has no holes.
Step2
Place all 11 liners in the litter pan with the bottom liner (the one with no holes) on the bottom. Turn edges of the liners down over the edge of the litter pan and secure with the provided giant rubber band. Pour a large amount of clumping scoopable cat litter into the pan, filling it 3/4 of the way up.
Step3
Wait for your cat to use his/her litter box. By the way, the cat will be very happy because there is a deep level of litter and also it stays clean. Once you have several clumps, it is time to perform a nifty trick with the sifting liner. Simply free the top liner from the rubber band, hold each of the 4 corners and hold the liner over the litter box. The clean unused litter with sift down into the litter box and only the clumped waste will stay in the liner.
Step4
Dispose of the waste and liner. You now have 9 sifting liners left. You can choose to sift and dispose as often as you like, keeping in mind the cost. A box of 10 liners costs about $2.50 at the most popular discount store. This method will make your clumping litter last literally for 3-4 weeks. Just add a little more litter to top it off every few days.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a supply of plastic grocery sacks next to the litter box (but secured away from your cats) so that you can quickly and easily disposed of the used waste in them.
  • You will never scoop again!
  • This method will greatly decrease odor from the litter box
  • This is good for your pet's health as there is a fresh litter box every time
  • Keep all plastic bags and liners away from children
