How to Sell a Timeshare with No Upfront Costs

  1. Step 1

Advertise in free publications. You must get your timeshare noticed for someone to buy it. That means you need to advertise and doing so with no upfront costs is quite easy. Some good options include advertising on real estate websites that do not charge a fee or that charge after the real estate is sold. The other option is to advertise on free classified websites like Craigslist or Recycler. These types of websites are very popular and really do a good job of advertising timeshares from all over the world.

  2. Step 2

Create marketing materials yourself. You may want to post flyers with your timeshare details and photos in areas where potential buyers will see it. That makes it easy to spread the word with no up front costs. People worldwide are interested in your timeshare no matter where it is located so feel free to advertise to potential buyers in the US as well as abroad.

  3. Step 3

Write and print the contract. The next thing you want to do is write and print the contract. You could pay someone to do this, but that would cost a lot of money. You can do this yourself with a little time and research. There are timeshare real estate agents that only focus on helping people buy and sell timeshares. If you need a timeshare real estate agent's help with this then agree on payment upon selling the timeshare rather than up front.

  4. Step 4

Include any costs of legal representation in the contract for the buyer to pay. Should you need legal representation for any reason then you may want to include their costs for the buyer to pay. If you add this to the contract then it won't be a problem and you will get away from having to pay any up front costs.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sell your timeshare faster by offering a lower than market price!

on 2/26/2009 You have some good points to this article. My only critique as that you didn't post any links to websites that specifically deal with timeshare resales that do not charge upfront. For those of you that don't have the time or patience to sell it on their own or just want free advertising talk to the folks at http://www.vacationtrader.org where the service fee is paid after the sale the way it should be done.
