Even if you need to hire a lawyer to help you with your divorce there are things you can do for yourself to save money.

Things You'll Need:

  • Online access
  • Printer access
  • Black ball point pen to complete the court papers
  1. Step 1

    Get ALL of your forms for FREE online at the Maricopa County Superior Court website or pick them up at the Courthouse in the self-service center. All forms are available in English and Spanish. Their website is: www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/Self-ServiceCenter.

  2. Step 2

    Fill out the Request Deferral or Waive Fees form. You may even qualify to defer or waive the fees to serve your spouse with the court papers.

  3. Step 3

    Complete the forms yourself or have a friend help you. The instructions are easy to follow so you should not have to pay anyone fill them out for you.

  4. Step 4

    If possible, have your spouse file the Acceptance of Service form so you do not have to incur any costs to serve the court papers. Otherwise, serve the papers to your spouse by Certified Mail. You can do this whether or not your spouse lives in Arizona and it is the cheapest method of service if they are not willing to complete the Acceptance of Service form.

  5. Step 5

    Avoid taking time off work if you fill out the Night Court/Weekend Court request form. Night court hearings are held Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Weekend court hearings are held on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
