You have just returned from the beach looking like a pinkish bronzed goddess. Three days later you find yourself molting like a snake on your legs, chest, and shoulders! Before you run out to buy and expensive exfoliating scrub or giant loofah mitt, try this super easy cheap alternative that you already have in your kitchen pantry!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sugar
  • Vitamin E Oil or Regular Baking Oil
  • Your favorite scented essential oil
  1. Step 1

Add one cup of granulated sugar to a medium sized mixing bowl.

  2. Step 2

Add one cup of vitamin E, almond, sunflower or your favorite baking oil and stir. If mixture is too thick to pour, add more oil until you achieve a nice smooth consistency but not too thin.

  3. Step 3

Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils (make sure they are safe to use on your skin) and stir. I usually use oils that are used in baking like lemon, orange, peppermint, or almond.

  4. Step 4

Pour mixture into an empty lotion container (washed and rinsed) or buy a pump-like travel sized container at your local dollar store.

  5. Step 5

While bathing or showering, use like soap with a bath mitt, wash cloth, or bath puff on dry and damaged skin. Massage into skin gently but thoroughly.

  6. Step 6

Rinse and continue your normal bathing routine with bath soaps or shower gels to remove excess oil.

  7. Step 7

Dry off and moisturize as normal. I recommend a lotion with Aloe and Vitamin E to lock in moisture and sooth burned areas.

Tips & Warnings
  • No time to mix up a batch? Keep a salt shaker filled with sugar near your bath or shower. Squeeze some bath gel into your washcloth then "pepper" with the sugar shaker for a quick and easy exfoliation!
  • Use carefully and gently around the face, if at all! Do no use around the eyes. If you must scrape the dry skin off of your nose, chin or forehead, do that after you get out of the bath and in front of a mirror!
