How to Not Be Bored With Exercise

Experts recommend that most adults get 30 minutes of exercise every day, including two days of strength training. As if getting that much exercise in isn't challenging enough, it's easy to get bored doing the same thing over and over again. Learn how to make the most of your exercise program without getting burned out or bored.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix it up. You will get bored doing the same exercise routine day in and day out. Mix up your workouts by rotating between different types of cardio (such as swimming or cycling) as well as varying your workouts with intervals or hills.

    • 2

Play for a team. Team sports like tennis, kickball and soccer will give you a great cardio workout along with social interaction to keep you from getting bored.

    • 3

Find a workout buddy. Meet a friend for a weekly walk, jog or weight lifting session and talk away the minutes.

    • 4

Try a new class. Gyms and community centers offer a variety of classes, from spinning and kickboxing to salsa, yoga and Pilates. Trying a new class can keep you from getting bored.

    • 5

Schedule some rest. If you keep pushing your body without giving it a break, you'll not only get bored, but risk injury. Schedule at least one or two rest days a week to keep your body fresh and in top shape.
