How to Collect Child Support
Step1
Make your voice known and heard when trying to collect your child support. Contact your state representative,Governor, U.S. Representative in Washington, U.S. Senators in Washington, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Commissioner of the Office of Child Support Enforcement and the President of the United States. Call, email, fax, and write letters until someone responds back to you. You can find each one online at your state website.
Step2
Hire a private investigator to find the person who is owing the child support. Many times they will not charge as much when it comes to collecting child support or they will wait until you have collected the child support owed. Child Support Investigators is one of the top notch investigative services that will help you find who you are looking for. To contact Child Support Investigators see the Resources section.
Step3
Join a support center such as Support Kids who do all the work for you in 1/3 of the time it would take you. Support Kids have collected over $365 million for families across the country and the number continue to grow. You can apply online or call them at 1-800-691-KIDS.
Step4
Call everyone you know that knows the person you are trying to collect from. Inform them of your situation and ask if they could possibly help locate the deadbeat parent. You will be amazed at how eager people are to help you in this kind of situation.
Step5
Giving up is not the answer. Do not regardless of the situation give up on collecting money that is your children's means. Keep trying until you get it.
