Egg nog is a classic drink which is usually served around the holidays, or during the colder months of the year. While egg nog is often served by itself, traditionally most egg nogs included some form of alcohol as one of their main flavor components. In America, that alcohol additive usually came in the form of bourbon. Want to make your own bourbon egg nog? Here's how to do it:

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • 4 oz. light cream
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 dash of vanilla extract
  • 2 oz. simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Martini shaker
  • Tall glass
  • Nutmeg
  • Whipped cream
  1. Step 1

Fill the martini shaker half full of ice.

  2. Step 2

Add the cream, vanilla extract, bourbon, egg and simple syrup to the martini shaker.

  3. Step 3

Place the martini shaker's lid firmly on top and shake the mixture vigorously for 30 seconds.

  4. Step 4

Strain the mixture out of the martini shaker and into the cocktail glass.

  5. Step 5

Top the bourbon egg nog with a healthy dollop of whipped cream.

  6. Step 6

Sprinkle nutmeg on top of the whipped cream.

  7. Step 7

    Serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings
  • It isn't necessary to use good, expensive bourbon when making bourbon egg nog because the more subtle flavors of good bourbon will only be hidden by those found in the drink's other ingredients.
  • Don't use too much bourbon when making your bourbon egg nog or else the dairy products in the drink may curdle.
  • Drink responsibly and drink in moderation.
  • Never drink and drive.
