Not all of us are fashionably inclined, so this article is for those of you who find it hard to find your own personal style. You don’t have to look bad by following your own judgment, but you don’t have to be a one hundred percent copy cat either! Just follow different inspirations from different mediums and bend them to your personality. Here are a few ways to figure out what’s HOT in fashion right now.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

PEOPLE WATCHING. Even if your fashion instincts are about as tuned as pig who really thinks he can fly, I’m sure you still would have no problem picking out a person in the crowd who just looks BAD. Everyone, and I mean EVERY one can spot a fashion disaster coming their way. People-watching is the cheapest, easiest, most non-threatening way of surveying EVERY DAY fashion in your community. Sure, you may never walk down the runway in these looks, but at least you’ll be a part of the crowd.

  2. Step 2

MAGAZINES. For some people, being a part of the crowd just isn’t enough! I AGREE! We know, however, that most fashion magazines have turned into rubbish. They care more about “how to get that man in to bed” than fashion, BUT they will still offer you the colors, styles, and silhouettes of the season, and where to find them. The magazine you choose will also determine your style. Vouge treats fashion as art so most outfits in this book aren’t “every day” wear for MOST people. If you’re going for a down to earth-yet still fashionable-look try Marie Claire or Jane. Beginner friendly clothes and cheaper prices, as well as guides to mix-and-match dressing so LESS articles of clothing make MORE outfits!

  3. Step 3

TURN ON THE TUBE. There are a myriad of television shows tailored to all friends of fashion. Look for shows like: Fashion Emergency and What Not to Wear, they are good for a few laughs as WELL as informative! There is also The Style Network, which offers runway coverage and other fashion-related programs so you can get your daily dose of style. Other than outright fashion hunting, be very aware of the clothing shown on network TV. Chances are they are wearing the current fashion – or FUTURE fashion.

  4. Step 4

    SURF THE WEB.
There is no end to the limits of finding fashion. You found THIS article in your fashion hunt, and this is just the beginning. There are hundreds of thousands of fashion sites from all different countries that can help you step up your style. There are directories and even digital runway shoes. So eat up everything the world has to offer and get out there and FORGE your own style!

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid common fashion faux pas
  • Ignore silly clichés
  • Let YOUR personality shine THROUGH your outfit!
  • Don’t over do – anything!
  • Be wary of fashion failures clouding your judgment
