How to Date Someone From Your Workplace

Dating is hard enough, but dating someone from your workplace is a tricky proposition. You do not want to jeopardize both of your status within the company, and create tension between co-workers if the relationship does not work out. Still, attraction to a co-worker is enticing and where better to find love than with a person you see on a daily basis? You will need to know how to approach the situation correctly, so you do not put anyone in a precarious situation. With that in mind, here are five steps to date someone from your workplace.

1. Start off by having lunch with them within a group of co-workers. Getting to know someone in a group setting puts no pressure on anyone. It also allows everyone to act in a casual manner. Make small talk with them and bring up normal conversational topics to discuss. For example, you could talk about school, movies and music.

2. Set up a co-workers only happy hour one day after work. This is a great opportunity to see one another outside the work environment. It also will give you an opportunity to flirt with them, and in turn to see if they flirt with you.

3. Instant messenger them on their PDA or cell phone, and ask what they are doing for lunch. Be playful in your message, and tell them that you need to escape from the office. Make this escape lunch as casual as possible. Keep in mind, this is not a date. Instead, it is just two co-workers having lunch together.

4. Start sending funny and light-hearted emails to their personal account during your time away from the office. Once again, keep the messages light and friendly, and if they respond to them, then you will probably end up IM'ing each other during your evening hours.

5. During the middle of the work week, ask them casually what they are doing on Friday evening. Suggest that your friends should get together for a night out. Make an effort to meet their friends, and take notice if they come over to claim you. If you are having a good time with them and if they are available, then ask them if they want to take this relationship a step further.
