Spicy foods have long been thought to increase the metabolism by raising the body's temperature and increasing the body's ability to burn calories by as much as 300 percent. However, it is not enough to simply toast your tastebuds. You need to eat the right kinds of spices in the right form to achieve the best results. In this article, we will discuss how to use cayenne to increase your metabolism.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cayenne pepper
  • Cayenne pepper capsules
  1. Step 1

Add a pinch to Mexican dishes. Even if you do not like spicy foods you will probably enjoy cayenne in Mexican food because many of the recipes are designed to be spicy without being overpowering.

  2. Step 2

Spice up soups and sauces. Adding a small amount of cayenne--one or two pinches--to soups and sauces often will have a nearly undetectable effect on flavor while ramping up your metabolism significantly.

  3. Step 3

Work with a nutritionist. Consult a registered dietitian to determine how much cayenne will make an impact on your metabolism. If you have historically avoided spicy foods you probably will not need much to make a major impact. On the other hand, if you routinely burn your tongue with peppers and powders you may need to add more cayenne to dish before it makes a difference.

  4. Step 4

Add cayenne capsules to your daily vitamin regimen. A cayenne capsule twice a day can stimulate your metabolism without you having to eat lots of spicy foods. If you experience heartburn, however, remember that taking a pill can cause this the same way that eating hot foods can. Work with your doctor to determine the best way to incorporate cayenne into your diet.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consult a doctor or dietitian before adding cayenne to your diet in large quantities.

on 12/13/2008 I believe so... I have been drinking cayenne pepper with natural lemon juice in cold purified water, and help me to maintain by body weight. Also I found this site online that sells chocolate with cayenne pepper low in sugar and best quality in taste... very helpful for women in those days of the month..
