How to Make a Textured Crayon Picture

A textured crayon picture is the perfect simple craft activity for young children--fun, easy and something that demands more than a little creativity. Here's how it's done.

Things You'll Need

• Crayons
• Glue
• Sponge
• Twig
• Cotton
• Sparkle
• Fabric
• Other "texture" items

Instructions

1. Use crayons to draw a complete picture. For our purposes here, let's say you have drawn a picture of a girl holding a sword and shield.

2. Cut some sponge into a shield-shape and glue it over your crayon-drawn shield.

3. Glue a straight twig over your crayon-drawn sword.

4. Glue some cotton in the sky to create clouds.

5. Glue some sparkle onto the crayon-drawn girl's blouse or shirt.

6. Cut out some fabric in the shape of the girl's skirt or shorts, then glue it to the picture.

7. Use your imagination. The more added texture, the better.
