Things You'll Need:
- Power washer or high pressure hose nozzle
- Chlorine bleach
- Soft scrub brush
-
Step 1
Remove the hot tub filter from the hot tub. Most hot tub filters are easily removed from beneath the skimmer. Be sure to turn off the power to your hot tub when removing the filter.
-
Step 2
Remove large bits of debris and hair with a soft scrub brush. Brushing down along the seams of the filter, brush out as much hair and other debris as possible. Do not brush too vigorously or you may cause damage to the filter.
-
Step 3
Pressure wash your filter. With a power washer on low setting or a regular garden hose with a pressure nozzle, thoroughly spray down your hot tub filter until the water runs clear. You can help hold the filter in place with a broom stick placed through the middle of the filter.
-
Step 4
Soak your hot tub filter in a 3-gallon bucket of hot water. Add a quarter cup of chlorine bleach to kill any germs and to whiten your filter.
-
Step 5
Thoroughly rinse the filter with a hose. Be sure to wash out all traces of chlorine bleach especially if you use an alternative spa treatment like Baquacil.
-
Step 6
Allow your filter to dry outside. Replace the filter in your hot tub.
