Rosacea is a common skin disorder that affects as many as fourteen million people in the US alone. While rosacea can be embarrassing, there are steps you can take to lessen the flushing. In the meantime, you can conceal rosacea flushing using makeup.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunscreen
  • Skin Primer
  • Tinted Moisturizer, one shade darker than your skin
  • Yellow-Toned or Green-Tinted Concealer
  • Makeup Sponge
  • Loose Powder
  • Large Powder Brush
  1. Step 1

Apply sunscreen to your entire face. Doctors recommend that rosacea sufferers wear sunscreen with an SPF of fifteen or higher everyday to help counteract rosacea breakouts. It is advisable to use a sunscreen that is especially geared toward sensitive skin when you have rosacea.

  2. Step 2

Spread face primer onto your skin using your fingertips. Primer allows your makeup to go on more smoothly. It also helps your makeup look fresh for hours. Following the primer, use a makeup sponge to apply the tinted moisturizer to all of your skin. Make sure to use an oil-free moisturizer.

  3. Step 3

If you are using a liquid concealer, pour a small amount into the palm of one hand and press your palms together. By warming the concealer it will go on more smoothly. Dot only the red areas of your face with concealer using a makeup sponge or your fingertips. If you apply green- or yellow-tinted concealer onto your entire face, it will give you an unnatural look.

  4. Step 4

Apply a matte, mousse-style foundation to your entire face. A matte foundation will provide coverage, hydration and consistent coloring to your whole face without drawing attention to any redness. The reason to opt for a mousse foundation over a liquid is that the liquid will attract and reflect light, which might make any redness or concealer more noticeable.

  5. Step 5

Dust your face with a light dusting of loose powder using the large brush. This will set the makeup.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid foundation with orange undertones, as this can make your skin look unnatural, especially in contrast with yellow or green tint in your concealer.
