Have you been oogling over all of the beautiful invitations available - only to find out that they are outside your budget? Follow these steps to create your own personalized fantastic invitations!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Time!
  • Creativity
  1. Step 1

Get the software. If you have a program like Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Quark, etc - you are good to go. If you don't, and don't want to spend the money on the programs, visit paint.net and download their free software. It does just about everything a beginner designer will need...and it's FREE!

  2. Step 2

Get creative and get inspired! Check stationery websites to get some ideas of what designs for invitations look like. Look through magazines to find colors and patterns that you like. Try these:

    weddingpaperdivas.com
    crane.com
    invitationsbydawn.com
    theamericanwedding.com
    chereeberry.com

  3. Step 3

Design away. The sky is the limit with your design, and you get to call the shots! Don't like the fonts on your computer? do a google search for "free wedding fonts" and you'll find hundreds to choose from. Be as creative as possible.

  4. Step 4

Locate a printer. There are a number of online printing companies (vistaprint.com, overnightprints.com, print4less.com, 4by6.com) where you can find great deals on large quantity printing. You also might have luck finding a local printer from your yellow pages; this way you'll get to see and feel the paper stock you are paying for. Many will have envelopes to match, but if not try envelopemall.com.

  5. Step 5

Get the invitations printed -- don't forget reception cards and response cards! -- and send them to your guests. And enjoy your big day!

Tips & Warnings
  • An easy way to address your envelopes is by purchase clear mailing labels, and downloading a handwriting font online. MUCH cheaper than hiring a calligrapher.
