Things You'll Need:
- Tiara
- Foot pads that can be cut to fit shoes
- Hair brush
- Cloth tape
-
Step 1
Wear your tiara around the house for half an hour. Take note of any irritations that develop as you wear the tiara. These slight issues can become magnified as you continue to wear the crown, and will probably become full-blown problems if you must wear the tiara for several hours. Symptoms may include: itchiness behind the ears if your have a headband tiara, chafing and irriation from the ends of the tiara or the comb that holds it in place, or a slight headache if the band is too tight.
-
Step 2
Flex the tiara repeatedly. This will help loosen it slightly so the ends do not push into the sensitive area behind your ears or cause a headache. Pull the ends gently apart and then let them spring back to their original spot. Make sure that you keep the tiara even so that you do not warp it while loosening the fit.
-
Step 3
The ends of this tiara are sharp and should be covered before use.Cut two small rectangles out of a foot cushion. They should be about an inch long and just wide enough to wrap around the ends of the tiara.
-
Step 4
Tape the rectangles around the tiara's ends. This will prevent rubbing and also help hold the tiara in place on your head without necessitating lots of combs or pins.
-
Step 5
A tiara with end combs like this one should sit directly on top of the head and the combs should be held in place by your hair rather than sticking down toward your scalp.Select an appropriate hairstyle. If your tiara is intended to sit on top of your head, you should wear your hair up so that the comb will fit into a large mass of hair rather than being directly against your scalp. On the other hand, if you are wearing a headband tiara, then you should wear your hair at least partly down to prevent the tiara's ends from rubbing or even scraping the skin behind your ears.
