How to Get Worms Out of the Ground Without Digging

Digging for worms can get tedious and hard on the back and leg muscles. Long ago, a friend saw me digging for worms the "old fashioned way" and told me there was a simpler way of getting worms. I have used this method ever since for getting worms. Read on for instructions.

  1. The Worm Charmer

      Find a good muddy spot after the rain. The muddier, the better as it's easier for the worms to make it to the surface if the soil is loose and wet.

      Grasp your sledge hammer firmly with the hammer part on the ground. Pick up the sledge hammer and then let it fall to the ground while you are still holding the handle loosely. You will hear a dull thud when the hammer comes in contact with the ground.

      Repeat Step 2 several times until you notice some "wigglers" moving on the surface. As they rise to the surface pick them up and put them in your worm container. The more thuds you make; the more worms will surface. You can catch hundreds of worms effortlessly!
