Do you struggle with the transition zone in your triathlon, duathlon, or aquabike? Well here are a few easy steps to make it quicker.

From Quick Guide: Training For a Triathlon
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baby Powder
  • Transistion Towel
  • Bike Gear
  • Run Gear
  • Swim Gear
  1. Step 1

First, get to the transition area early. Claim a prime transition spot, this is key to making it in and out quicker.

  2. Step 2

Set up your bike on the rack, and put your transition towel right next to your bike. Now, have all your gear ready to lay out on the transition towel. Your towel should be brightly colored so you can easily find it.

  3. Step 3

Most triathlons have an order of run, bike, swim. You should lay out your gear accordingly. You will probably swim first so you should already be wearing your goggles and swim outfit. Many people wear tri-suits so this cuts down on gear at transition area. Now, put your bike shoes (with the soles pulled out and baby powder sprinkled in) at the front of your towel. Balanced on your handle-bars should be your helmet. If you like to bike with socks on those should be on your bike shoes. Behind those there should be your running shoes and (if needed) your running hat.

  4. Step 4

When you are done with your gear after each discipline, an easy to way to keep it out of the way it to put it to the other side of your bike (if there is any room). On the other hand, if you put it back in its designated space, it should be fine there too.
