I started this about a year ago with my daughter and she has been interested in how plants grow and gardening. So try it and you never know you might have a future gardener.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • any king of beans (lima, pinto or red)
  • tupperware container
  • 6 damp paper towels

Step1
Separate the towels into 2 towel sections and get each one damp with warm water. Fold the towels in half the in half again and place in the tupperware container
Step2
Put each of the beans in one half of towels and fold over, so that the beans are covered. Put the lid on the container and place in a window seal.
Step3
Check on them every couple of day and depending on the sun and heat from your window seal, they should sprout in a little one a week. Keep them covered for a couple more days so that you can let them get a good stem and at least the first set of leaves. Show them to you children, they'll be in aww.
Step4
In 2 to 3 weeks you can plant either in a container of when the danger of frost passes, outside. Let your children help in planting.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to check and see the dampness of the towels. Make sure the stay damp and in a couple of days you should have little bean sprouts!!
  • This also works with watermelon seed and corn.
