Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 medium head red cabbage
  • 1 cup water
  • Plastic tablecloth or plastic sheeting
  • Cookie cutters, cookie press
  • Exacto knife
  1. Step 1

Cut the cabbage in half. Put half away as you won't be using this. Coarsely chop up half the head.

  2. Step 2

Place the shredded cabbage into a medium-sized saucepan. Pour the water in.

  3. Step 3

Turn the heat on medium high. When it begins to boil, turn it down to medium heat. Let it simmer.

  4. Step 4

When the cabbage becomes tender and turns very dark green it's done. Place a colander over a large pan and strain the cabbage, catching all the juice. The juice will be a beautiful blue..

  5. Step 5

This dye is great for Easter eggs, papier mache projects and all kinds of crafts. It works will with air drying play dough as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put a big plastic tablecloth under the work area you're going to use.
  • Make sure you use this clay up within two weeks. It may be too hard and dry to use after that.
