How to Go Makeup Shopping in New York City

New York City is one of the fashion capitals of the world. Fashion includes both haute couture and cosmetics and if you are interested in makeup and beauty products, New York City is the place to be. Walking down the street, you see makeup shops all over. If you'd like to find the best makeup shopping opportunities in the city, here are a few of your best bets.

    Go to Sephora. New York is home to a plethora of Sephora stores. Sephora is a French cosmetics empire, and the stores are vast and extensive. From lines like Makeup Forever to Sue Devitt, Sephora has anything a makeup loving girl could ever ask for. Be sure to check out the great selection of makeup brushes as well.

  2. Step 2

    Stop by Bloomingdales Bloomingdales makeup counters are some of the finest in the world. On any given day, you can stroll into Bloomingdales and get a professional makeup demonstration from Paula Dorff or MAC makeup artists. The number of brands offered at Bloomingdales is amazing. No serious makeup shopper would ever visit New York City without making a stop at Bloomingdales.

  3. Step 3

    Visit Henri Bendel. This classy Fifth Avenue department store is home to many classic, well-known makeup brands as well as some lesser known boutique brands. Henri Bendel also has a wonderful selection of moisturizers and skin care treatments. Make sure to go to Henri Bendel if you would like to get a worldly makeup experience, as the selection includes a large amount of European brands.

    Drop by Bergdorff Goodman. Another elegant Fifth Avenue shop, Bergdorff Goodman has a refined, extremely extensive selection of the finest makeup from Chanel to Creme de la Mer moisturizer (which can cost you a few hundred dollars for a very small spot of cream). Definitely a cosmetics lover's heaven.

  5. Step 5

    Go to Missha. Located in midtown, this small, Korean-owned makeup shop is friendlier the pocketbook. With a decent-sized selection of adorable, girly, flirty cosmetics, sprays, perfumes and creams, this is a fun way to top off an afternoon of makeup shopping. This shop is also very teen friendly.
