Thinning hair is a major cosmetic problem for many women. Although it is socially acceptable in our culture for men to be balding, or even fully bald, most women feel uncomfortable with this hairstyle. If your hair is naturally thin or has become that way due to excessive bleaching or other issues, you have many alternatives to adopting a"G.I. Jane". In this article, we will discuss how to thicken thinning hair.

    • Hair dryer
    • Hair brush
    • Mousse
    1. How to Thicken Thinning Hair

      • 1

        Select the proper hairstyle.

Shorter cuts with layers add volume. Long locks tend to weigh themselves down which can lead to the appearance of thin hair even if you do not have a clinical problem.

      • 2

Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to your shampoo.

Baking soda coats the individual hairs, adding volume to your overall look.

      • 3

Add 2 tablespoons of oat flour to your conditioner.

Oat flour is a natural volumizer. Make sure that you work the products into your roots and scalp and all the way to the tips of your hair for the best effect.

Work in a dollop of mousse before drying.

Mousse temporarily fills in "cracks" in strands of hair, causing it to hold its shape better and look fuller and thicker.

      • 5

Dry your hair upside down. Flipping your hair over creates a fuller, thicker look for styled hair.

    Tips & Warnings

    • You may want to consider professional hair-loss medication to help curb thinning hair.

    • See a professional if you continue to experience excessive hair loss.

I thought this would be something about how to actually regrow hair on a thinning scalp ..not just how to camouflage thin hair.. so I was sort of disappointed, although these are good tips to make the most of what hair you do have left.. it would be nice to know how to regrow hair into the thinning spots, without resorting to some pricey over the counter chemical treatment.

The instructions do not say how much shampoo you are to add the 2 tbsp of baking soda to. Ditto on adding oat flour to the conditioner.
