Are you having trouble reaching deep inside of a narrow drinking glass to clean it? Learn how to clean a tall narrow glass without breaking it. Here are top secret tips for cleaning inside of a narrow glass.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • tall narrow drinking glass
  • table knife
  • dish sponge
  • dish soap
  • uncooked rice
  • baking soda

Cleaning a Tall Narrow Glass

Step1
Soak the inside of the drinking glass with hot water and dish soap for 5-10 minutes. Simply fill the narrow rimmed glass with hot water and add a few drops of dish soap. It's important to do the water first otherwise you'll end up with suds. When the glass has finished soaking, dump 2/3 of the water out and move on to the next step.
Step2
Press a dish sponge into the drinking glass using a table knife. The knife is able to reach where your hands cannot. Use the knife to move the sponge along the inside of the glass. Be careful not to scratch the inside of the glass with the knife. You can use the knife to help pull the sponge out of the glass when you're finished as well.
Step3
Your Drinking Glass Will Sparkle Drop a few grains of rice and some baking soda into a soapy narrow rimmed glass, like a salt shaker. Use the palm of your hand to seal the glass closed and shake the glass vigorously so that the grains of rice scrub the inside of the glass for you.
Step4
Rinse your drinking glass thoroughly with running water by holding it under the stream from your sink. It's important to rinse thoroughly to remove and soapy residue that can dry into a nasty film.
Step5
Try using a rinse aid to eliminate water spots. You can buy rinse aids for home dishwashers or you can buy a rinse aid from a bartender supply store. Rinse aids cut through the minerals in your water to make your drinking glass sparkle..

Tips & Warnings

  • You can dry your drinking glass in a warm oven.
  • If you've used dry rice to clean your tall narrow glass, do not pour it down the drain; it can clog your pipes or damage your garbage disposal.
