Things You'll Need:
- Notebook for planning.
- Party supplies.
-
Step 1
In a notebook plan out each step of the party. This can be very simple if you go through each of the following steps.
-
Step 2
Invitations. The whole of throwing a great kids party (any type) is getting creative. This is true of a tea party as well. For invitations you could make tea pots out of card stock and write in the information, you could print off tea pot cards, or even make your invitations look like tea bags by folding them down. You can also let your kids decorate one side of the invitations with sequins, glitter, markers or pencils, and other craft supplies. Include a location, time, and whether or not they should dress up (what is tea time without party dresses?).
-
Step 3
Decorations. No unforgettable party is complete without decorations. You have a lot of different options for a beautiful party. Go grown up and use fancy table clothes, place mats, cloth napkins, and even napkin holders. Add some streamers in a girly color to decorate the edges of the tables.
-
Step 4
The Menu. A tea party is about feeling fancy, grown up, and yet having a lot of little kid fun. Plan your menu accordingly. Some great options are fruit, fancy appetizers, mini sandwiches (use cookie cutters to cut them into fun shapes), and mini muffins. You can also offer tiny cookies and pastries. Don't worry about supplying a full meal to everyone, offer lots of varieties and everyone will go home full.
-
Step 5
The Drinks. At a tea party, drinks really matter. The most important thing is that you offer all your guests a tea cup. You can get inexpensive tea sets at the dollar store. Serve tea (hot or iced if you wish), juice, fruit punch, or even a fancy tea drink (like passion tea lemonade).
-
Step 6
Events and Activities. No special party is complete without events or activities. You can choose a few to make your party last as short or as long as you want to. Be creative and it will be even more fun. Some great options are singing, reading, playing dress up, playing games, and doing crafts. It is also a good idea to take lots of pictures. You can even make a special time for picture taking.
-
Step 7
Party Favors. A party isn't complete without party favors. You can fill a white paper bag with goodies and then fold it over like a tea bag. Add a string and a tag with each child's name. You can also send home any craft projects and each child's tea cup (especially if you bought them at a dollar store!).
-
Step 8
Thank you notes. End the party with the perfect touch. Mail out thank you notes to each child's mom (after all she had to get her child there and arrange her life around you). Also send pictures of their child to them for an added touch.
