Need a cool, refreshing drink to relieve the heat of the summer? Or, maybe a cool addition to the family reunion? This is good ole' southern lemonade with a touch of sweet and a splash of mint. (Serves 20-24 people)

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 cups sugar
  • 5 cups water
  • Juice of 12 lemons (or 3 tbs lemon juice = 1 lemon)
  • Juice of 4 oranges
  • 2 cups crushed mint leaves
  • Sauce Pan
  • Collander
  • Pitcher
  1. Step 1
     

    Simmer sugar and water on medium heat for 5 minutes, remove frome heat and let cool

  2. Step 2
     

    Add lemon juice, orange juice, and mint leaves to sugar water

  3. Step 3

    Let the lemonade rest for 10 minutes

  4. Step 4
     

    Use collander to strain into pitcher and refrigerate, making a concentrated lemonade

  5. Step 5

    To serve, add concentrate to water in equal amounts

Tips & Warnings
  • Concentrate can be frozen and used at a later date or freeze in ice trays for a tasty addition to ice water
  • Experiment using Splenda for a sugar substitute
  • To garnish, serve with a strawberry, pineapple, or cherry skewer on the side
