I have had several new members ask me how to give articles a 5-star rating. There is a short blurb in the Ehow FAQ section for how to do this, but I figured it would get the word out quicker by writing an article.
There are 5 stars under the title of every article. This will show the articles current rating. If the stars are all white and the number is zero, then that means that the article has not been rated yet. Hover your mouse cursor over the stars. You will see them change to yellow.
Step2
Click on the star for which you want to be rated. For example, if you loved the article and wanted to give it 5 stars, then click on the 5th star. Your rating will be counted. If you refresh the page, you will then notice that the number of ratings will increase by 1 vote.
Step3
It is helpful for the author if you leave a good comment on the article. This is a good opportunity to share your opinions or recommend additional resources. Comments can be rated as well. If you see a comment that is helpful and provides additional information, then give it a 5-star rating. This highest rated comment s will appear on the top of list and will most likely be shown on the same page as the article. This will give that member more exposure as well.
Tips & Warnings
Be honest and fair in your ratings.
Rating and commenting on articles will increase your exposure and article views.

And if for some reason you choose not to give five stars, give the author some feedback so they know what to fix...don't forget to Digg articles for them also.
