Step 1
TASTE TEST: This is our favorite game for baby showers. Purchase 6 to 8 jars of baby food. Number each jar. On the answer key write the number of each jar and it's contents. Remove the labels, leaving just the numbers on the baby food. Pass the jars around the room and ask guests to write down what they think is inside just by looking at the food. No tasting or smelling. The one with the most correct answers is the winner!
Hint: Do not include food combinations (peas & carrots, rice & chicken, etc.) Stick with single food items. Applesauce, peas, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas, pears, chicken, and beef are a few fun ideas.
After the game, re-label each jar of food and give it to the mother-to-be. -
Step 2
WHAT IS IT? This is a game where you test the sense of touch. Number several brown paper lunch sacks, 8 to 10 is a good number. Place one baby-related item in each sack. Pass the sacks around and let the guests feel what is inside. No peeking! Write down what they think the item is in each sack. The one with the most correct items is the winner.
Items to place in the sacks may include: baby washcloth, mini bottle of baby powder, pacifier, baby syringe, baby spoon or fork, bottle, small photo frame, tiny socks, or a small bottle of baby lotion.
Again, after the shower give the party items to the mother-to-be for the new little bundle of joy. -
Step 3
HOW BIG? Pass a ball of string or yarn and a pair of scissors around the room and ask guests to cut off the amount of string they think will fit around mom's expecting belly. The one who has cut the string closest to mom's belly size is the winner. It's hilarious to see how "big" some people think that baby belly really is!
-
Step 4
REMEMBER? Place several small items on a tray. Pass the tray around to guests. Allow each guest or each guest table to study the items on the tray for 60 to 90 seconds. Then take the tray away. Each guest must write down as many items as they can remember. The one with the most correct items is the winner.
The items can be anything you like. If you wish to stick with the baby theme, include: baby nail clippers, baby mittens, mini socks, diaper pin, tea bag for mom, tiny book of nursery rhymes, and a rattle. -
Step 5
WORD GAMES: On the computer, design a word search or word scramble using words pertaining to babies. Pass a copy out to each guest and give them a few minutes to complete the game. The guest with the most correct answers is the winner. Include words like: pacifier, bottle, labor, name, snuggle, diaper, etc.
-
Step 6
CHANGE ME, PLEASE! For this game you will need two baby dolls, two small sleepers that fit the dolls and a pack of extra small diapers. Put a diaper and a sleeper on each doll. Divide party guests into two "teams". Give each team member a diaper. The first player is given the dressed baby doll. The object of the game is to pass the doll from guest to guest, each guest must undress and change the baby's diaper, re-dress the doll and pass her onto the next guest. The team who has completed the most "changes" is the winner.
