Depression can take over your life if you let it. Here are some ideas to consider that will help you live a better life whether you have such illnesses as Clinical Depression, Bipolar or just have the blues once in a while.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Many individuals must take medications and see a Doctor on a regular basis. If this applies to you then follow the plan of care and make it a point to ask questions if you don't understand something.
Step2
Keep a daily journal. This helps you and/or your Doctor determine how well your medications and plan of care is working or what changes could be made to ensure the best plan for you. If you aren't seeing a professional, a daily journal can help you determine what you may be able to change in your life to be happier.
Step3
WALK
A daily walk for only 30 minutes makes all the difference. Exercise releases natural endorphins in your body that chemically put you in a better mood.
Step4
Sunshine!
Sunshine actually helps increase Serotonin levels in your body. Limited exposure to the sun can elevate your mood like nothing else.

Tips & Warnings

  • Writing down your thoughts makes them clearer.
  • Seek the help of a professional if your depression is more than occasional.
  • Don't drink alcohol! Mixing alcohol with medication is dangerous.
  • If you are having thoughts of suicide contact your Doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.

on 8/7/2008 Very good points. I'm a believer in those journals and using one for documenting one's experience while on medication... excellent excellent idea!
