1
Put on your goggles and gloves. This is crucial; working with wood can give you splinters and create a lot of dust, which can irritate your eyes.
-
2
Install some mounting boards along the area that you want your door tracks to run. You can use any type of boards for this; a good set of two by fours are recommended. These should be mounted to the frame of the barn with a metal bracket. These will be a good support for the door you are installing, and it is easier to install the door tracks if you have something to install them on.

3
Mount the door tracks on the mounting boards. You can do this by bolting them down along the top of the mounting boards. Use bolts that will not interfere with the opening and closing of the sliding doors. You might need a friend to help you hold these in place while you bolt them down.
-
4
Paint the tracks and mounting boards a desired color. Usually you would want these to match the color of the rest of the barn, but that is up to you.
-
5
Slide the doors into place. Once you have the tracks installed, it is just a matter of putting them on the tracks. Slide the left door in from the right side, and slide the right door in from the left side, handles facing towards the center. For this, of course, you will need the help of a friend.

6
Paint the barn doors. A buddy will come in handy here, too.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure that when you mount the tracks, they are mounted straight. Otherwise your sliding door will be difficult to open, or may not open at all.
