How to Make Healthy Oven BBQ Chicken Breasts

  1. Step 1

Begin by trimming all the excess fat off of the chicken breasts. Do this by using a sharp, small knife and gently pull up any fat or silver skin you see on the chicken and slice off.

  2. Step 2

Place chicken breast inside of a large container, adding 1/2 cup of lemon juice. Mix well and allow to sit for 30 minutes while making the barbecue sauce.

  3. Step 3

Mix together in a large bowl, 1 1/2 cups of ketchup, 1/2 cup of molasses, 1/2 cider vinegar, 1/3 of sugar, and 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce. With the wire whisk, mix entire contents for at least five minutes, thoroughly mixing.

  4. Step 4

Place the chicken breasts in the barbecue sauce one at time, making sure they are coated thoroughly. After each chicken has been coated, place inside deep pan.

  5. Step 5

Preheat oven to 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Once pre-heated, place chicken on top rack for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, spoon on more barbecue sauce and allow to cook another 30 minutes. Remove pan from oven and serve on top of steamed vegetables.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never use store bought barbecue sauce if you want to eat healthy.
  • Experiment with making the barbecue sauce by using other spices.
  • To make the chicken even healthier, cut each breast in half to make a smaller portion.
