How to Dry Pineapple

If you dry your fruits and vegetables, you don’t have to worry about them spoiling. Pineapple, in particular, tastes great dried and makes a good ice cream topping or just something to snack on. This article will teach you how to dry pineapple in some easy to follow steps.

Pre-heat Oven

1. Pre-heat your stove to 135 degrees. While your oven is heating up, you can do everything else you need to; this will save you a heap of time.

2. Remove the core from the pineapple.

3. Cut the pineapple into ¼-inch thick slices. You can make them thicker if you so choose. Keep in mind that it would take them longer to dehydrate.

4. Place the pineapple slices into your stove and let them sit until they are dehydrated. This will usually take a little more than six hours to complete.

Tips & Warnings

• Before you retrieve your pineapple from the oven, you can treat it with lemon juice or ascorbic acid. This will give your pineapple a nice browned look when it is finished.

• Do not set your stove too high, otherwise you could end up with charcoal instead of pineapple.
