Play Bang Click Bang

There are a number of ways to play the party game Bang Click Bang (also known in some places as Mafia), but the basic rules are a good place to begin. Think of it as an adult version of Duck, Duck, Goose—especially if you make it a drinking game.

Things You'll Need:

  • at least one player who don't know the solution,
  • an otherwise quiet setting

    Playing Bang Click Bang

  1. Step 1

Begin by pretending to hold a gun and randomly pointing at individual players, each time saying either “bang” or “click.” Then ask: “Who's dead?” or “Who's it?” The first person to speak next is the victim, no matter what is said (including you if you make extra comments, just to be tricky). If more than one person spoke at the same time just after the question, make an excuse and begin again.

  2. Step 2

If all players are of legal age, you can make this a drinking game; anyone who can't answer the question correctly must take a drink.

  3. Step 3

The number or variety of “bangs” or “clicks” are not important at all, but just add misdirection to the game. Participants in the know can come up with misleading ploys of their own to further confuse new players. The longer the sequence of shots or discussion afterward, the more difficult it is to solve.

  4. Step 4

Keep playing until everyone playing either knows the answer or gives up in frustration. Be prepared to make new friends if things go badly!

Tips & Warnings
  • Another version of Bang Click Bang reverses the secret: the last person to speak is the victim. You can also add or change the words said as you shoot.
  • Be sure that all players have a chance to hear the game properly—it's impossible to solve if you are unable to tell who speaks first.
