Internet browsers have grown from mere tools for surfing the web to sophisticated programs. Software developers are continually creating add-ons that extend the abilities of these browsers. Microsoft Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers can now get answers instantly, protect passwords, fill forms, flag unsafe websites, change skins and access bookmarks everywhere. Here are ways to build the perfect browser.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mozilla Firefox Browser
  • Microsoft Internet Browser
  1. Step 1

Personalize your skin. Browser themes determine how they look when you open them. With Mozilla Firefox, you have options on how you want your browser window to look. You can change the Firefox theme easily. Go to Mozilla Firefox theme download page. Locate the theme you want and click Add to Firefox. After download, click Tools, Add-ons, Themes and Use Theme. Restart Firefox and your theme is changed. See Resources below for additional information.

  2. Step 2

Get answers instantly. With 1-Click Answers, you get answers instantly. Highlight the word you need answers for, right-click the word and click Look up in Answers. 1-Click Answers work in Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Explorer. See Resources below for more information.

  3. Step 3

Protect yourself online. Know whether the website you are visiting is safe with Site Advisor. Microsoft Explorer and Mozilla Firefox use colors to notify you when you visit unsafe websites. See Resources below for download information.

  4. Step 4

Fill a form once and Roboform does it for you every time. Roboform is a browser add-on that remembers the contents of your completed form. Roboform then completes forms automatically for you next time. See Resources below for download information.

  5. Step 5

Protect your password. With Password Hash you don’t need to remember all your passwords. You set up one password and Password Hash does the rest. No need to remember different passwords to all the websites you visit. See Resources below for additional information.

  6. Step 6

Synchronize your bookmarks across many computers. With Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer set up, you have the same bookmarks on all your computers. You don’t have to remember web addresses anymore. See Resources below for additional information.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are hundreds of add-ons available to you and most are free. With these add-ons, you can change the behavior of your Microsoft Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browser to meet your personal taste.
  • Before downloading add-ons, confirm that they will work with your browser and version. Add-ons are browser and version specific.
  • Download add-ons only from Mozilla and Microsoft websites. Viruses and other damaging malwares spread through add-ons. These can do serious damages to your system if you get them from unauthorized websites.
