How To Get Rid Of Tummy Fat

  1. Step 1

Burn the fat off. Your biggest asset in the battle of the bulge is exercise. Fat, whether on your stomach or elsewhere, amounts to nothing more than stored energy. In order to release this stored energy you must participate in some sort of sustained physical activity such as jogging or walking for at least thirty to forty-five minutes each day five days per week.

  2. Step 2

Tone your muscles. If your muscles are weak they will not look or feel firm and your posture will suffer. Work your abs with crunches, leg lifts and other such exercises two or three times a week. Also be sure to spend some time doing exercises which focus on the obliques. Also, stand up straight!

  3. Step 3

Get into the right mindset. Set a goal and work towards it. Don't just depend on the scale. Look at your body in the mirror. It is a good idea to keep a photo journal as this will be a much more accurate gauge of your progress than relying on your total body weight alone.

  4. Step 4

Eat right. You are not going to lose tummy fat, but eating foods that are high in calories, sugar and fat. Eat whole grains, vegetables, fruits and lean meats. Drink plenty of water. Your body needs to stay hydrated to be at its best.

  5. Step 5

Remember the role of your genes. Genetics play a huge role in the way that your body will look. No matter how much you work out, you may not ever have a six pack to show for it. However, that does not mean that it is pointless to focus on losing fat. Your stomach will be tighter, firmer, and your entire body will be leaner and more healthy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consult with your physician before beginning any diet or weight loss routine.
  • Keep track of your progress. Changes don't happen overnight. Take pictures and keep accurate records so that you can gauge your progress.
  • Think healthy. Picture yourself the way you want to be, and then be determined to reach that goal.
  • Be wary of diet pills. These are iffy at best, and many of them can be dangerous.
  • There is no such thing as spot training. A machine that works the abs will not lead to a flat tummy by itself.
