Instructions

  1. How to Prepare a Tamale Pie

    • 1

Preheat oven to 400° F. Open the box of cornbread stuffing mix, pour its content into the mixing bowl and prepare it according to the instructions on the back of the carton. Allow the fully blended mixture to stand for about 15 minutes.

    • 2

Take the frying pan, place it on the stove and begin browning the ground beef. Chop up the red onion and the red bell pepper and add it to the browning ground beef.

    • 3

Drain some of the fat from the frying pan and instead add the prepared taco seasoning blend. Mix it under well. Turn off the stove and remove the pan from the hot burner. Add the corn, salsa, and cheese to the frying pan and mix all ingredients.

    • 4

Pour mixture into casserole dish, transfer prepared cornbread stuffing mix on top of the beef mix, and place the dish into the preheated oven.

    • 5

Bake at 400° F for 45 minutes. Take the casserole dish out of the oven after the time has elapsed and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

    • 6

Garnish with optional chili beans, sour cream and chopped green onions. Serve with Frito corn chips on the side. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not over-mix your cornbread stuffing or it will be too dense to come out nice and fluffy when baked.
